2011 Update/Christmas Card

Dearest Friends, Family and the rest of you random strangers,

We are so excited to tell you all about our amazing lives. So, here is our 2011 brag letter. Loran is a rockstar nanny for two adorable children. She is the first nanny since Mary Poppins to be practically perfect in every way. Sean has been wildly successful in his burgeoning career as a tech mogul. As a program manager at Intuit he's laying the groundwork for eventual domination of the world financial system.

When we're not bossing people around at our day jobs we're striving to achieve enlightenment through yoga by night. We do slave labor by manning the front desk for a few classes a week in exchange for a delicious “all you can yoga buffet.” On the side Sean also enjoys training for the NBA while Loran goes to dance class and prances around pretending to be a prima ballerina.

We've done a lot of traveling this year including six trips to the far off, mystical land of Utah. We also had a glamorous vacation in Vegas to celebrate four years of marital bliss. Closer to home we enjoy venturing out into the wild and crazy environment of the bay area. We have fully adapted to fit in with the inhabitants by becoming master recyclers, shopping at Trader Joes, enjoying the life of bike commuting, and saving the earth one carbon footstep at a time.

We hope this letter finds you all happy and healthy during this holiday season. Please come visit us anytime. Our queen size luxury couch-bed and warm hospitality eagerly await you. Happy Christmas, Merry New Year, and Namaste.

Love,
The Looslis

Celebrating One Year Of Yoga

One year ago we moved to Mountain View, CA and I decided to look up yoga studios around our new area.  I found one that was just starting up and worked out a trade with them.  I work at the front desk a couple times a week and in return I get to take as many classes as I want.  I had done a few yoga classes in the past, but this time it stuck.  I continued to go back and get better and better.  Not only did I become stronger, more flexible, and better balanced, but yoga did more than that for me.  Through this practice I am able to find a still inner peace.  My mat becomes my island where I find wisdom, focus, and calm.  It's a place where I can let go and learn about myself and my place in this world.  Taking these lessons and state of mind with me off the mat is always a challenge but I don't doubt the impact this practice has had on me.  I made this video to try and capture the beauty of it and what it means to me.  Feel free to leave your comments.  Enjoy.

Idina Menzel

So, for those of you who aren't aware I (Loran :) adore Idina Menzel.  She did a concert at Park City last night and I got to go.  It was amazing!  I was one of two fans who stayed after for an hour waiting for her to come out to sign autographs.  We got to talk to her for probably 3 or 4 minutes which is crazy!  I got a hug and gave her a card and got this awesome picture.  For a full concert review and more pictures check my facebook.

also I recorded one of her songs in a recording studio called "No Day But Today" cuz I love it.  Coming Soon!

What We've Been Up To

video
I had to upload this one through blogger because youtube cut out my audio (stupid license crap for the songs I used)  So, this isn't very good quality so just watch it in the small window.  I'll upload a better quality one later.

Summer 2010

So, yeah it's been awhile.  I stopped blogging for a couple months because I was having video conversion issues.  I'll get it figured out eventually but for now the entertaining video clips are on hold.  It's been a crazy summer.  I think I'll just list the events in a boring yet concise manner.
  • Sean finished his graduate program at Stanford in Russian Studies
  • Sean's parents came out for the graduation and a fun visit
  • My brother Stefan and his family also came out to visit us
  • My parents and Cameron came out to visit us, too (we're very popular people)
  • Kyle and his family adopted a new baby girl Daria
  • Father's Day Salmon at Grandma and Grandpa Lusvardis
  • Trip to Utah including lots of family events
  • Went to an Idina Menzel concert in San Francisco and it was AMAZING!
  • Weekend at the cabin in northern California.  Boating with my aunt and her family!
  • Cute new nephew Liam was born (Ryan and Valerie's baby)
  • Had our 3 year anniversary
  • Went to Six Flags with Kyle and the kids...well, the kids that can walk
  • Got kicked out of Stanford housing and temporarily moved to Redwood City
  • Another trip to Utah/home
  • Sean got a job with Intuit in Mountain View, CA as a program manager (best news of all)
  • Went on a last hurrah trip to DC, South Carolina, and a Caribbean cruise with Stefan and Ry-Ry and our friends the Van Dukers
  • Moved to our cool new apartment (email me if you don't have our new address)
  • Cameron went into the MTC for his mission to Milan, Italy
  • Sean turned 25
  • We got cable (yes this is an important event)
  • Furnished our whole apartment through craigslist
  • My mom is going to help me cutesify it this next week
Are you asleep?  I'll just keep typing since I don't think more than three people read this blog anymore anyway.  I've just discovered that my google calendar makes for a great reference/journal.  Here's some pictures from our exciting summer.  That's all for now.  We love you!

Remembering Kristan

As many of you know today is the one year mark of Kristan's passing.  I put together some pictures I had mostly of us.  A lot of them aren't that great of quality since most of them were taken with my old camera, but hopefully there's some you haven't seen before.  I added a few songs that remind me of her.  Kristan was such a wonderful sister and friend.  I love her very much and she is in my thoughts and heart, especially today.

Our Blog Is Getting Very Exciting

Hi guys!  So, I'm learning more about blogging and I plan to jazz it up a little one of these days.  For now, all I can handle is how great of a movie maker I am.  This movie is much more exciting than the first one.  Sean and I went to Kyle's house in Modesto/Oakdale this last weekend and had a blast.  Michelle, Brock, and Landon were passing though on their way to Disneyland so we all had a great time together.  Enjoy! (ps-I forgot the picture of the kids in the hot tub and misspelled "except," but you can't complain because I made such an incredibly entertaining video)

Weekend At Kyles

Welcome to our BLOG!

So, I decided to just have a blog and invite people to view it who are close to us.  Just family and a few friends.  I used to do my facebook for updates, but then I decided I don't care a whole lot about all those people.  I thought this would be a better tight-knit kind of thing.

I'll be posting photos, videos, and stories/updates.  I haven't figured out this whole blog thing, yet, but I think I've enabled people who have been invited to view the blog to make comments if you want to.  It'll just get sent to me and then I'll "approve" it and post it from there.

I assume some of you may have trouble with figuring out some things....ahem...mom....so, feel free to email me and ask me any questions ;)  I would love to help you if I can.

Happy May!  You can view the first video I posted below.  Love you all!
